Blue Jays extend dominance over Orioles
It looks like a change of scenery might have been just what Yunel Escobar needed.
The Toronto Blue Jays’ trade acquisition hit his first career grand slam on Sunday, leading the way in a 10-1 rout of the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday. The victory gave the Blue Jays a three-game sweep of the hosts.
Escobar’s slam was part of a six-run second inning, chasing Baltimore starter Brian Matusz. It was more than enough for Toronto starter Shaun Marcum, who gave up one run over five innings of work. Escobar finished the game 3-for-4 with 5 RBI. All-Star John Buck went 3 for 5 with a run scored and two RBI, and the team tallied 15 hits on the game.
Toronto is now 9-0 against Baltimore this season.
