Blue Jays acquire Escobar
The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired shortstop Yunel Escobar from the Atlanta Braves for shortstop Alex Gonzalez.
Gonzalez is having a terrific year and has seen a drastic rise in his power numbers, making him an attractive commodity.
The Braves were looking for some help down the stretch as they make a push in the National League East.
Meanwhile, the Blue Jays have essentially conceeded that they are not going to be playoff-bound in 2010.
The acquisition of Escobar gives them a much younger shortstop who they hope will benefit from a change of scenery.
